I think "/etc/profile.d/name.conf" should be fine, I notice that opensuse-kde has A LOT of stuff in there

What should I say... There is THE global plasce to do so, AND a pacman package is meant to only audit the global part. instead of touching multiple users' ~/.profile, you should have put it into /etc/profile, or /etc/profile.d/name.conf

I think that install script should not decide how user do.

can't you make/add 'export QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct' line to ~/.profile by default
